Reviewing a new book

by on May.02, 2013, under Uncategorized

I have been given another opportunity to review a book within the Microsoft System Centre 2012 suite of products. The topic of this book is Virtual Machine Manager and the book is released by Packtpub.

I have started to read it and so far I must say it appears to be a concise book taking you through the idea of the type of deployment you will need and installing the product

There is the link for details on the book http://link.packtpub.com/POCsIQ

The ease of Terminal Server printing in Windows 2008

by on Sep.25, 2009, under Uncategorized

One of the issues that seems to come up a lot is that newer printers don’t work on a server when connecting via terminal server without having to install the printer drivers on the server. Bring in Windows Server 2008 with this new operating system come Terminal server easy print, this will redirect your printer jobs on the terminal server to your printer on your local machine without having to install any extra drivers on the server.

There is some required software to get this to work.
for Window XP you need to following

* Windows XP Service Pack 3
* .Net framework 3.0
* .Net Framework 3.0 SP1
* Remote Desktop Client version 6 (Comes with Windows XP SP3)

For Vista you need

* .Net framework 3.0
* .Net Framework 3.0 SP1

Once these requirements have been meet log on to the server load up gpedit.msc under the heading

Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Terminal Services\Terminal Server\

enable “Printer Direction” .

Disconnect from the remote desktop session and reconnect and viola you can now print to your local print without installing any drviers.
